Halloween

Dylan was convinced that church started at 10:15. Wrong.
We tried another church even more convinced this one started at 10:30. Wrong again.
Jack in the Box it is...
We talked as he ate breakfast.
And then we were late to the 11:00 service, haha.
Oh men and the way they do things.

I helped him with laundry after church.
I've never been to a real laundromat so it was a fun experience.
We wasted quarters on video games while we were waiting.
There was a lady that kept smiling at us.. I think she thought we were cute.

Homework, bike ride to Goodwill, and dinner complete with Halloween music followed.
People in the dorm dressed up in costumes and trick-or-treated around the hall.
I didn't sign up to participate.. I'm not a fan of Halloween.
I still managed to get visitors.

You breathed infinity into my world...

...and time was lost up in a cloud and in a whirl.

Molly Walker and Hannah Davison were in E-Burg today for swimming districts so I spent the morning hanging out with them! We ate waffles at their hotel and then laughed for quite a while in their room as a teammate of theirs ate a hard boiled egg in one bite. She earned $4 for shoving that nasty thing in her mouth. A little bit of real world Ellensburg was filmed. Haha, those girls are a crack up and I love them! It truly brightened my day getting to see them.

Tonight I volunteered at an event called Fright Festival at the Farm. It was a little Halloween gathering for elementary kids. I worked at the face painting station and freezed my buns off! But it was totally worth seeing the smiles on the little kids all dressed up. It's amazing how volunteering and doing things for others can lift your spirits and make things worth while.

I don't think I've been this cold in a while. Every bone in my body feels like it's shivering so I'm excited to curl up in my warm bed. Sleep is calling my name.

How to Train Your Dragon.

I finally watched that movie tonight with Dylan. So good!
We played some video games too.
I apparently suck at them. There's no surprise.
It's the beginning of Halloween weekend and I've already seen a couple skanki outfits.
Gosh, I really don't like this holiday. I don't even know if you can call it a holiday.
It's been raining.. it makes the trees even prettier.

And..
I didn't take a picture today.
Sad day...

Yakima. Glasses. Lots of Food. Pumpkins

Those four things could pretty much sum up my day. I think I should elaborate on them though...

First of all, it rained today. It was kind of peaceful but at the same time cold. I went to the gym after Geology class and an older man joined me on the elliptical machines to my right. He kept moving his hands around in the air and I was really confused until I glanced over to see that he was going through his sign language book. I giggled to myself but at the same time I kind of admired him because I would never practice sign language while on an elliptical.

Dylan and I made a trip to Yakima. He wanted some help picking out a new pair of glasses and we ran some other errands as well. He makes me laugh a lot and I enjoy spending time with him. Being serenaded every song that played in the car was also a nice touch to add to the day. We stopped at Sonic for dinner and spent $23. Only $5 of it was spent on me. Let me state the obvious.. he eats a lot, haha!

As soon as we returned from Yakima I went over to my small group. We carved pumpkins. Every year for as long as I remember I would carve hearts for eyes and a nose so I did it again. It made me happy thinking about all of the times I've done that in the past. Now, it will sit outside my dorm room in the hall to rot. Lovely.

German Food & Halloween Costumes

Two very interesting things happened today.
Octoberfest was one of them. That consisted of eating German food in the dining room. Beer cheese soup, and some other foreign things entered my body. I suppose it's always fun trying new things.
Secondly, my little pod of friends decided that we should dress up in our Halloween costumes and watch Anchor Man. Ryan won't be here for most of the weekend so he wanted to do something festive. I had an essay to write so I put my costume on to take a few photos.

My favorite...

... things about today.

1. I wore my purple trench coat. People always tell me it's cute and it makes me happy.
2. Walking into the gym I was welcomed with a hug from Dylan.
3. Taco salad and milk for dinner. It's my new favorite thing.
4. I wrote a children's book in the library. They are being sent to a library in Sudan. How cool is that?!
5. Tim took me to salt. The message was on mercy. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Matthew 5:7
6. I got a Halloween card in the mail from Grammy!

Photoshoot!

I was asked what my favorite part of the day today was and I had to say going on a photoshoot with Dustyn. He is a musical theater major and he needed some updated head shots. Even though my fingers were about to fall off from the coldness, we ventured around campus and scoped out the best places for some pictures. I think they turned out pretty nice!

It's Sunday and Windy.

My mom made me apple spice pancakes for lunch. So good, enough said!
Coffee with Briana and Karyn! They are both such blessings in my life.
Grandma came to visit.
Back to Ellensburg.. made it there in 1 hour and 20 minutes. New record!

Things I love About Being Home.

1. Taking a shower barefoot.
2. Sleeping in my own bed.
3. Mom's homemade meals.
4. Free laundry.
5. Hanging out with my mom and dad, anytime, all the time.
6. Hiking Badger Mountain.
7. My kitty. She cuddled with me today.
8. Looking out the front window at my truck :)
9. Taking my computer anywhere in the house because it doesn't have to be connected to a yellow cord to work.
10. Having coffee with best friends.

Life's Wonders

I took my psychology exam this morning. Not quite sure how it went but what can I do? Hopefully my hours of studying paid off.

Dylan took me to lunch this afternoon to his favorite Ellensburg restaurant. He knew the owners pretty well and they even gave us dum-dums with our meal. Without thinking I plopped the blueberry sucker into my mouth. Yes, my teeth, tongue and lips were bright blue. I think he thought it was pretty cute :)

Rubal and I then headed for home! I just love my house, everything about it. I've missed my parents and my friends and I'm so blessed to have to luxury of driving two hours to see them all.

Girls night at the Johnston's! It was so much fun and I love my friends so much. They are wonderful. Shasta, Kailee, Nicole and I took loads of pictures on Nicole's mac which made my abs sore from laughing! They are hilarious and I can't wait for them to be posted.

A lovely, fun filled day to say the least!

Shoe.

Carrie, my wonderful roommate, and I decorated a doorstop at the doorstop program for our hall. We made ours into a shoe and everyone thought it was just the cutest thing!

I'm going home again tomorrow for the weekend! It's homecoming weekend here but I'm not really into that right now and I'd much rather see my friends at home whom I miss so much and my wonderful parents.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I don't know what to call this post.

The gnats are terrible here. The picture proves that.

O-Squad won our game tonight! Finally!

Carrie helped me study for my geology exam! She's the best roommate ever!

Feeling Crappy?

Yes, I am.
My throat is now fine but my nose is incredibly stuffed up.
Just one of those days where I want to crawl in my bed and sleep the day away.

We went on a surprise Geology field trip. The druggie/party boys seem to find their way to me so I had a good chat with one of them about quitting those habits right away. They always act like they genuinely want to change.. Maybe they do, maybe it's just me.

Mr. and Ms. Central talent show was tonight. It lasted for three hours! Yes, three hours. There was some amazing talent and also some very interesting ones. The host was a male trans gender who goes by the name of Tina Sparkle. He won Ms. Central last year. I was confused too. We'll leave it at that.

Everyone Needs Inspiration.

We have not received the Spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
1 Corinthians 2:12-13

That verse was my inspiration today.

The O-Squad lost tonight but we had fun! Team picture!

My Passion

I was asked to take some senior pictures today. I sure have missed snapping pictures of people. Elizabeth's niece was up here visiting today for her orchestra concert and I was flattered she asked if I wanted to take her pictures.

I also went to Elizabeth's concert which was amazing. The last time I went to a performance like that was when Carly played the violin in middle school.

Jon and Rubal then accompanied me to church. Pastor Billy always has a great message.

Skype with mom and dad. First time for that and it was great! I love them!

My friends are the best...

Challenge course this morning.
It was absolutely freezing but lots of fun.
I'm beginning to get sick so I kind of felt like I wanted to just lay on the ground and go to sleep the whole time.
But, that's the nice thing about my bed. I took a long nap when I got back to my room.
Skype with Erwin, Christina, Kailee, Demie, Kristi, Victoria, Taylor, Nicole and Briana! All at the same time! Gosh, I miss them so much! I wish I could have been there to spend time with them last night.
Attempted some homework, got some dinner and watched a movie in Niel's room.
The Last Song!
I made a new friend who watched the movie with us.
Her name is Kaitlyn and she lives down the hall.
We were the only ones in the room getting excited when Will would do something cute.
Ah, us hopeless romantics.

Erwin sent me this picture of them skyping with me! I have such amazing friends!

Adventurous Ones

Fridays are nice. I only have 2 classes.
A group of my friends and I rode our bicycles to Goodwill and Fredmeyer.
I found a retro Central sweatshirt, a belt and a red corduroy button down shirt.
I'd say I scored.
Picked up some milk and some juice.
Dinner and then watched some rock climbing.
I've managed to pick up a sore throat. Not fun.
Bed time.

Tune My Heart To Sing Thy Grace

Come Thou Fount by King's Kaleidoscope is a really great song.

This picture simply says it all. My eyes have been so heavy for the past two weeks. It's almost impossible for me to keep my eyes open in lectures. More coffee and more sleep shall be in my future I guess.

I went to a small group dinner tonight. It was really nice and I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot.

Enough said for now.

Laughter.

Same old, same old with the classes. I did much better than I thought on my Psychology exam. That's a plus for the day! My ELP friends and I went to dinner at the Pasta Co. which was loads of fun. I needed some good laughter. I ate way too much which is not a surprise and we all tried to make spoons stick to our noses. The O-Squad has a volleyball game tonight. It's not at 10:00, thanks goodness. Hopefully we'll do better than last time!

You're Beautiful...

... You are treasured, you are sacred, you are his.

That song, Beautiful by MercyMe, has been so encouraging for me the last couple of days. It doesn't matter what I'm going through in life because I am beautiful in God's eyes and I was made for so much more than all of what is here on earth. I hope it will encourage someone else today also.

We went on a field trip in geology class today. I've decided that the scenery around Ellensburg is just downright beautiful. Everything is so green and lush. A big change from the brown tumbleweeds covering the Tri. I really want to take a cute little couple and go take some fun pictures in the green-ness!

I also really enjoyed the message at Salt tonight. It was based off of Matthew 5:5... Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Biblicaly the word meek means accurately understanding yourself with no self confidence propping you up. Having confidence in accomplishments only means they will be swept away but having confidence in Christ is what will get us through. Before God everyone was meek. Nobody had any accomplishments or things to build them up in a worldly sense so Jesus tells us to remember those days.. remember when we had nothing and had to rely on a greater power to help us everyday. Our goal is to live a life of meek confidence because those who live on the confidence of God alone will inherit the earth.

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Kittitas Young Life..

... here I come!

Our first young life leader training was tonight. Jillian and Corey are amazing people and I got to hear Corey's version of how he proposed to his lovely wife. At breakaway last February I got to hear Jillian's version. They are such an adorable couple. They've been married for 3 years and they still look at each other like it's love at first sight. I want that in my marriage someday. Seven more weeks of training and then I could be possibly be a leader. Let's see where God wants me!

He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8

Maybe I'll get to go here again...

10/10/10

The date today is pretty cool, I'm not going to lie.
Bethel church is the best. I've missed pastor Dave and the worship in wired.
Walked down the new road behind our house with mama.
It started raining.
Ate my favorite home cooked meal... Chicken tortilla soup! Thanks mom!
Packed up my things and picked up Rubal.
Back on the road we go.. in the pouring rain.
Not fun. And then it stopped.
The sky was beautiful.
Generation Church. I went by myself but that's okay. I had God to sit with me.
Mandatory meeting with all of Kamola.
Some serious stuff happened this weekend regarding parties and rufies. Scary!
Bed time.

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
2 Corinthians 9:11

My Home.

It feels so good to be home.
Sleeping in my own bed, having my own bathroom, my parents to talk to face to face, home cooked meals. Gosh, I've missed all of this more than I ever thought I would.

My mom and I walked up Badger this morning. We use to do that all the time. And once again, I miss doing that too. She is the greatest person to talk to. She is the most encouraging and supportive person I know and I couldn't be more blessed to have her as my mom. We ran some errands and she did my laundry for me. I brought it home to do. Paying $3.75 or doing it for free? I'd bring it home for mom any day.

Spent the rest of the night cuddling on the couch watching tv. Oh how I've missed nights like this.

Home, I go!

English test, down.
Psychology test, down.
Home, here I come!

Rubal and I jumped in the truck and were on our way to the Tri-Cities. We both got really excited when we got close to town. It's amazing how much I've missed this place. I couldn't have been happier to see my mom, dad, cat, my own room. Ah, it was amazing.

The pink week football game was tonight. Kamiakin played Southridge. We dominated them, 41 - 10. No joke. I felt quite strange being at a high school football game but it was incredible to see people that I've missed so much.

The Game I Love

I played some basketball tonight with a bunch of guys.
I forgot how much I miss playing that game.

Not my photo.
But, I liked it.

O-Squad!

My intramural volleyball team had a game tonight.
We're called the O-Squad.
I'm not quite sure why that's the name of choice but it works for me.
I guess the other name of choice was Multiple Scorgasms.
I wonder why that one didn't win, haha.
We won tonight!

No picture of my own but I've got to say that I really, really like this tattoo!

Sunset Hike and Salt

I went on a sunset hike tonight. The guide decided to pick the hardest trail in Ellensburg. It definitely was one of the most challenging hikes I've ever been on but it was beautiful.

Next was Salt.
Tim, Ty and Elizabeth went with me and it was nice to not have to go to something alone. I was sweaty from the hike and we sat in the back but it couldn't have been better. Some good worship is what I needed. On the way home Ty put on a worship song and you could hear all four of our voices singing. It's a fact: There are other christians here at Central :)

I miss home.
That's all I have to say for today.

Bicycle, Coffee, Bible, Church, Homework...

I didn't sleep well last night. Maybe it was because my roommate didn't come back to the room so I found myself waking up every hour to check if she was there. Negative, every time. I got up, put some air in my bike tires (they had gotten a little flat), rode around town.. I found a cute little neighborhood that I had no idea even existed in Ellensburg, and then ended up at Starbucks to read my bible. I found a seat looking out the window and drank my non-fat cinnamon dulce latte. Perfect.

In my reading I came across these verses:
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God.
Philippians 1:9-11

These were the words of Paul as he was in prison. His heart was so set on God that him being in jail meant nothing in comparison to preaching the word of God so that others may have the opportunity to believe.
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him,but to suffer for him.
Philippians 1:29

Paul wasn't just believing in the Lord, he was going through pain so his life could be a testimony for his faith. This made me consider my life.. I'm not going through the same "pain" by any means that Paul was but I'm struggling no doubt. I feel alone and lost and like I'm the only person on campus who doesn't drink, smoke or swear. But life isn't about just believing and having things work out perfectly.. it's about laying down your life no matter the circumstances and giving everything to our one true God. I want to be more like Paul. I want to go through these hard times so that my life will be a testimony to those around me that I believe, live and suffer for Jesus Christ alone.

This song has me hooked!

I'm giving in...

... to something heavenly.

Some girl turned the light out on me as I was taking a shower. I wasn't very happy about it but then I realized...

People will let you down. They'll turn out the light on you.. but Jesus, he never will. Yes, I was physically standing in the dark taking a shower but I was in the real light, the light of Jesus Christ.
The Lord is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear?
Psalm 27:1

I visited the Chimposium this morning and it was fantastic! For an hour I got to learn about the three chimps that live on Central's campus. I'm pretty lucky to have had the opportunity because they are world famous chimps. Loulis, who is one of the chimps is the first chimp in the world to learn an American language (sign language) by another non-human. It's a pretty incredible thing. Here's a fact for you... Chimps and humans are more alike than Indian elephants are like African elephants.

After visiting the chimposium and talking with my mom on the phone I realized that I want to learn sign language as well as Spanish. I know that God can use me in some awesome ways with knowing those languages. I'm excited to see what he wants of me.

I Learned A Few Things Today...

- Do not buy more than what will fit in your backpack. I walked to Fred Meyer which is a good mile in one direction. I bought some necessary items... milk, juice, apples, bananas, mini bagels, you know the good stuff. My shoulders wanted to kill me.

- Never underestimate your wholesome, christian, RA neighbor. I'll leave it at that. I heard some stories tonight and I'm not quite sure what to think of them.

- There is such a thing as "coffee" yogurt. I bought some. I'll let you know how it tastes.

- Entering college is like saying "welcome to bad language town." I hate that.

- Life cereal never gets old... even at 11:23 p.m.

- Ellensburg really is a beautiful little place.
